Bike ride on a bike path in the pine forest of Cap Ferret.

Take a bike ride

In the shade of the pines

Many kilometres of biking trails criss-cross the region. All invitations to borrow the Villa Colette’s electric bikes to benefit from the coolness of the pine forests. The road rises a little, slopes down gently, turns left, veers to the right… as far as L'Herbe, where you come to a halt in this fishing village with colourful houses. Or breeze through the air along the oceanfront, on the green trail, heading for Lacanau and beyond.

CYCLING BETWEEN PINEWOODS AND THE OCEAN
LÈGE-CLAOUEY-GRAND CROHOT-LÈGE

On Cap Ferret, biking is self-evident. You discover the cape while pedalling between forests, villages and open horizons. This itinerary sets off from the cyclo-tourist stopover in Lège, the main departure-point for bike itineraries. The trail winds its way gently through the pine forest, as far as La Cabane du Résinier, one of the last remaining witnesses to the history of resin tapping. Here, the forest still tells us about the work of resin collectors and marks the entrance to the natural reserve of Les Prés Salés, a vast landscape composed of meadows and tranquil water. The path then continues towards Le Grand Crohot, a large ocean beach where the Atlantic stretches as far as the eye can see. The return ride along shaded cycling trails through the forest will bring you back toVilla Colette in time for cocktails, facing the bay. A simple, non-challenging itinerary, ideal for a bike ride with the family, taking time out, and exploring the Lège-Cap Ferret peninsula differently.

BIKING BETWEEN AN OYSTER VILLAGE AND THE OCEAN
LÈGE-CLAOUEY-GRAND CROHOT-LÈGE

On the Lège-Cap Ferret peninsula, cycling is one of the most enjoyable ways to discover the area’s scenery and heritage. Along these biking trails, nature and villages appear differently. The starting-point is the car-park of Les Réservoirs de Piraillan, a vast, well-preserved nature site. Very quickly, the itinerary winds its way through the quiet narrow streets of Piraillan Forêt, before arriving at the oyster village of L’Herbe, one of the most emblematic on the cape. Colourful shacks, oyster beds, and an Algerian chapel compose a unique setting, deeply anchored in the history of the bay. The trail then continues through the forest of maritime pines, along shaded biking trails leading to Le Truc Vert, a large ocean beach where the Atlantic stretches as far as the eye can see. The ride back is easy-going, towards Les Réservoirs de Piraillan, a listed nature reserve offering two discovery circuits amidst water, vegetation and silence. A simple, non-challenging itinerary, ideal for a family outing on bikes and exploring the Cap Ferret peninsula differently.
