RELISHING FLAT OYSTERS
WITH A VIEW OF THE BAY
Around the Bay of Arcachon, the oyster-farming villages of Claouey, Petit Piquey, Grand Piquey, Le Canon and L’Herbe add their charm to the cape. Facing the sea, their shacks built of colourful wood invite you to discover one of Cap Ferret’s most iconic traditions: relishing oysters just opposite the bay. From Villa Colette, the excursion often begins along the beach of Le Mimbeau, with the dune of Le Pilat on the horizon. Walking barefoot on the sand, you can watch the oyster farmers preparing their catch of the day, while basking in the unique peacefulness of these protected landscapes. At twilight, you simply choose a shack and settle down on the terrace to savour Cap Ferret’s flat oysters, renowned for their finesse and freshness. A precious, simple moment, almost with your feet in the water, facing the immensity of the bay.
